
Rox Martyn is an author, artist and advocate for creativity in schools. She is a much loved ‘artist in residence’ for Elwood Primary School in Melbourne, where her daughter, Billie, has been a student since Prep. POSCA x Rox Martyn have partnered to deliver a ‘Creativity In Schools’ program across Victoria, Australia, whereby Rox facilitates collaborative, creative projects that enable students to make their unique mark on their school environment.

We found creative ways of working around obstacles and turning them into part of the mural.

The children worked as a team to make a magical mural in their bathrooms, even singing together as they worked!

Cubicle Mini Murals
Each of the seven cubicles has a mini mural based upon a positive affirmation. The words are on the cubicle door with the art above the toilets.

Creating Themes
We brainstormed ideas for the themes on each side of the mural and created characters

Roller Door Garden Shed
This side of the mural is next to the kitchen-garden, so we created cheeky fruit and veggie characters to bring the garden to life.

View From The Street
You can’t miss our mural as you drive past the school! While its vibrant colours stand out, the colour palette is in keeping with the surrounding area - the earth, red brick buildings, grass and sky.
